Day #199 The jinx of my profession

As much as you think advertising should be simple, actually the journey of advertising getting published is quite complicated. To normally having a fully-furnished TV commercial aired, it usually takes about a month after the concept approved by the client.

I said 'normally'. Not to mention that advertising life is often 'abnormal'. My team ever made a TV commercial within 10 days after the client briefed us. For another abnormal situation is, I am currently still doing a project for almost six months and it is still continuing and it is dragging me down to death I want to bury myself down my desk.

But that is not what I want to share to you. Today, I want to share about itsy bitsy things copywriter do in advertising industry.Though copywriter is also be responsible of every outputs he/she created with his/her fellow art director, copywriter specifically responsible of every letters, punctuations, kerning, words, sentences, colloquial, ear-catching phrases, pronunciations, music and sound of the advertisement.

Sound simple, but I tell you ... it is annoying and for a clumsy kind of person like me, this is the most-not-fun-part of my profession. Looking at the picture I put on the top of this writing, you can see a mistyped there.

Today, is my jinx day working in advertising. Having worked as a copywriter for ten years, today I broke my egg did a mistyped for a newspaper ad I made. I read and did the proof reading over and over  but still my eyes missed a narcissistic  letter that insisted to show off on the page. Just one letter that blew everything on the last minute when the material was ready to publish.

Secondly, today I also broke my egg of my 10 years career being a copywriter to do a re-final mix of a 15 seconds commercials I made. In my entire life working in this industry, this is my first experience when the client asked for a re-final mix for the 15 seconds version whilst they approved the 30 seconds versions. To add with, all of the sound levels on the shorter version is exactly the same with the longer one. Geez. Then, what even more silly is, the client did not even notice the differences and approved it anyway somehow (-_-")

Well, ... I apparently experiencing new things, good ones and bad ones, in my 32th year of circling the sun.
Thank God, everything ends well today.

Anyways, come to rethink of this post, I think I have posted some more stuffs about working in advertising. Is it a sign that I am bored to death with this industry or I simply love it I want to write it on my blog?

:)
